Bō•KâDō Studios (“we,” “us,” “our”), a Fog City Fotografi studio based in the East Bay, California, is a boutique boudoir portrait studio. This page explains, in plain language, what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. We wrote it to be short and honest rather than long and vague.
The short version
We don’t track visitors to this site. We don’t use cookies, analytics, advertising pixels, social-media widgets, embedded videos or maps, or any third-party tracking technology. The only information we receive from you is what you choose to give us — through the message form, by phone or text, or by email.
What we collect
When you use the message form, we receive what you type into it: your name, your email address, and your message. If you call or text us, we receive your phone number and whatever you tell us. If you email us, we receive your email address and your message. If you go on to book a session, we collect what’s needed to plan and invoice it, such as your contact details, planning notes about your session, and payment details, which may be handled by a third-party booking or payment service with its own privacy policy.
That’s everything we collect from you. We do not:
- use cookies or similar tracking technology on this site,
- run analytics or advertising scripts,
- build profiles of visitors or follow you around the web,
- buy, sell, or trade personal information with data brokers or advertisers.
What happens behind the scenes
In the spirit of being honest, here is every technical detail that touches your visit:
- Message form protection. To stop spam bots, the form uses a one-time code that is created when the page loads (it is not a cookie and nothing is stored in your browser). When a message is sent, our server briefly keeps a one-way scrambled (hashed) version of your IP address and the time, so it can limit how many messages come from one place. This is never used to identify or track you and is deleted automatically after about two days.
- Where messages go. Messages from the form are delivered to the studio’s email account, which is hosted by Google (Gmail), just like any email you might send us.
- Web hosting. Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, date and time, the page requested, and browser type) for security and to keep the site running. We don’t use them to track you and don’t analyze them.
- Fonts. This site’s typefaces (Libre Baskerville and Pinyon Script) are stored on our own server and sent to you directly, so your browser doesn’t contact Google or any other font service. No other outside company receives a request from your browser when you view this site.
How we use it
We use the information you send us to respond to your inquiry and, if it goes forward, to plan, deliver, and invoice your session. If you ask to receive our once-a-month email update, we use your email address only for that, and you can ask us to stop at any time. We do not sell or share your information with third parties for their own marketing.
Your session photographs
How photographs from your session may be used or shared is set out in the agreement for your session, not on this website. This policy covers only what this website collects.
How long we keep it
We keep messages and booking information for as long as reasonably needed to handle your request and, if you book with us, for basic business recordkeeping such as invoices. If you’d like us to delete your information sooner, contact us and we will.
Your rights as a California resident
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), you have the right to:
- Know what personal information we hold about you
- Request that we delete it
- Request that we correct inaccurate information
- Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information — which is moot here, since we don’t sell or share it in the first place
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights
To exercise any of these, contact us using any method below and we’ll take care of it directly — no formal request process needed.
Other websites and services
This site links to other websites — including Fog City Fotografi, RiverTownCA (the studio that built this site), and our hosting provider. Those services have their own privacy practices and may collect information according to their own policies when you visit them. That’s between you and them and is outside the scope of this policy.
Children’s privacy
This site and our services are not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through this website.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top. Since we don’t track visitors, we can’t notify you individually — check back if you’re curious.
